The last 48 hours at Meese have been quite crazy. Cleaning, unpacking all our clothes, dusting, tagging, a little dancing on the new floor, more dusting, building, unpacking more clothes, and even more dusting. Tonight as we left we had a long look at our little boutique and really appreciated all that it is. We have had the space for nearly three years and it is definitely a highlight in our lives, we have grown with it and love Meese dearly….. and at last Meese is on the brink of re-opening. Being closed for almost 10 days has been a lot to adjust to, not being able to enjoy all of our Meeses pieces from our great designers, and missing all of our wonderful customers . Tomorrow we will have one last day of clean-up ( because the dust just keeps-a-comin ), do the final finesse, and mark all the SALES throughout the store. Then thursday Meese Clothing will be back in business! We have 60 NEW Sessa Wearables spring pieces for the store: skirts, dresses and tonnes of tops. We also have new jewelry from ‘Kiko’ ( Edmonton ) and ‘Wine on Sundays’ ( Ottawa ) and Salgado Fenwick has dropped off a few ladies tees and a bunch of mens tees as well.
So now on to our Grande re-opening deals…..

-Thursday, Feb 4th - Feb 14th

-PURSES & BELTS 30% off

So after much debate I finally bought my winter coat. I really surprised myself by going with the black Elroy coat in the end. I personally don’t own a tonne of black, but I decided maybe I should have a solid black wool coat. This Elroy jacket is amazing, not only is it made with recycled material its super cute too. The sleeves are nice and big so I can fit a sweater or blazer under it, and the waist is nicely highlighted with a tie belt. Oh yes, and the pockets are HUGE! Which is really important, they can hold an entire lunch including my banana. All in all I would have to say that this is officially my new favorite coat. Thank you Elroy for giving girls like me a reason to go out in the cold.

…..if you don’t have your favorite winter coat yet, come on down to Meese and find it…..

Evan and I extended the size of our garden last Fall with the rototiller, and doubled the size for this spring/summer. Wow! We not only grew as many veggies as possible, we actually had a huge yield as well. The space held 6 types of lettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, swiss char, green peppers and hot peppers, potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, an entire herb section, and beautiful sunflowers. On the side we also had 5 types of tomatoes in their own cozy little wooden homes. We experimented a lot with the food on our new BBQ and also featured a spread for every Artwalk we hosted. (as well as sent every friend home with a bag o’ goodness ) Sadly the time has come to once again to rototill it, and put the remnants back to the earth. Next year we are leaving the ground fallow to re-energize the soil for 2011. We have already prepared a full legend for our planting needs in the future. I must say my favorite time in the day is the morning, and watering the garden with the sunrise was ‘oh so dreamy’. Thanks to the earth for providing us with such riches.

p.s. we have one pumpkin growing to enjoy at Halloween!
We had the longest/shortest eventful road trip ever! Driving a way-too-big diesel truck, it was just Evan and I on the open road. The entire premise of the trip was to make Miss Stephanie’s Victoria wedding. Miss Stephanie has a very special place here at Meese and with Sessa Wearables. She started sewing the house label with me before Meese even took foot… or hoof. And when it was time to create Meese she was right at our side helping iron, stock, and even hang a mirror before or grande opening! She will always be close to our hearts…and thats why we were more than tickled pink to be with her on her very special day. We spent everyday driving at least 8 hours, and made it to the wedding and back in 5 days. The new Mrs. Vandersteen was well worth it!

May long weekend is over, so its now safe to say summer is on its way. We have been madly sewing up great dresses, for the long sunny days to come! Come to Meese and find your new favorite….
The Chantilly dress here is also featured in the newest Parlour magazine on our lovely model Alexa.
